Memorial Day Weekend 5/29/10

Posted 1 month, 1 week ago by Tyler Boutelle

I finally got to my POV video from the Miracle Memorial Day Weekend.  I was there bright and early on Saturday morning.   I took a few runs on Granite/Corkscrew and then they opened everything else around 10:30.  I made the epic hike from Shirley to Mainline then to the Palisades x2, then to the Light Towers, then finally to KT/McConkey's (I skied Abrosia Chute to right of the Fingers).

The snow was surprisingly powder to wind blown in most places but by the time I got to KT around noon it had turned to sticky slush puppies with wet snow slides releasing all around.  Not bad for May 29!!  See ya next year!

Guess at what time in the video this took place.   Great photo Tim Konrad!!!

Little Truckee River 5/22/10

Posted 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Tyler Boutelle

The fishing has been pretty good on the Little Truckee River.  The weather has been cold, and snowy but as long as you bundle up it's worth braving the elements.  Most of our fish were even caught on dry flies, lots of fun!

My first one, caught with a size #20 BWO 100_0959

Nice Colors!

Mike Porter has one on! Again on a dry!

Another nice one. Note the variations of color, mine had lots of gold and a little pink, his has lots of reds and greens.

A great day of fishing in spite of the weather. I love this time of the year when you can go ski in the morning and fish in the afternoon!!

This Winter Just Won't Stop! Late April POW! from UnofficialSquaw on Vimeo.

I have been mountain biking already, fishing and even raking the yard and tending to our flower beds.  But if life gives you pow, go out and schralp it!

Only KT-22 and Red Dog were open today, but the coverage and snow were awesome!  Cold and light and about 18"+ in spots.   The only downer was the crowd.  The KT lines was at times 15 minutes, but everyone seemed to be in a good mood.

Tomorrow we will get the upper mountain and possibly anothe epic Chimney session!
