Heli Skiing Valdez, AK
So we had an amazing three and a half days of bluebird, deep pow skiing with Alaska Backcountry Adventures out of Thompson Pass, AK. Here is a photo of the heli with Nik hanging out, about to go film some straight lines from the air.
After we all skied a zone, Mat Jackson thought it would be a good idea to redo his straighline nude. (BN) in the game of GNAR. Our guides seemed to think we were the first people to ever film a nude skier straight lining in the Chugach. Yea Mat!
This zone was called Frontal Lobotomy and was super deep and super steep. We definitely got some slough moving which ended up taking out Josh Anderson, screwed up my line a bit and almost engulfed Greg Linsey. I skied the lookers right spine just before the biggest shadow.
This zone was part of the "Books" and perhaps was one of my favorite lines for sustained pitch, perfect powder and just overall enjoyment. I skied the pyramid looking peak, starting on the lookers left convexity and moved lookers right to the next convexity before getting spit out by my slough at the sketchy and rocky choke. Huge rush!
Castle Peak Backcountry
Checking out the 2nd zone we skied
As Squaw received 2-4 inches the other day, a few buddies an I decided to see what the backcountry would have to offer. Hoping the high elevation of the Tahoe Donner Backcountry would make for more snow than reported, we decided to check out Castle Peak. The first zone we skied We headed in from the PCT trailhead next to Boreal and headed as deep as we could and found unbelievable powder about a foot deep. It was far better than we expected and we had a blast skiing pow and sending rocks.

GNAR
It only lasted one day but it was definitely one of the most fun days of skiing I have ever had. The vibe and stoke on the hill amongst competitors, locals, employees and strangers was so cool to experience in itself. I'm super bummed the game is cancelled but glad to get my pass back and not be banned from Squaw Valley. Rumor is GNAR is over at Squaw but the documentary must go on.
Hope to get some of my helmet cam up if allowed.
Blown out Comp Run
This is helmet cam from my Day 1 comp run at Kirkwood for the North American Freeskiing Championships. Unfortunately, it is really blown out but hopefully you can get an idea of the run. It can be a pain getting these little cameras dialed and this is what happens sometimes. Either way, the run was fun and exhilarating and got me into the finals.
